Annual Interprofessional Education Case Collaborative Competition

This event is a hands-on, interactive Escape room event is designed to reveal the complexity of healthcare delivery and the need for collaboration between healthcare professionals in order to reach the best health outcomes for clients/patients.

The team of students is given a verbal summary of a patient’s health status and history, and the room contains hidden puzzles they must solve in a prescribed order to help this patient and his family.

 

Learning objectives of the healthcare escape rooms include:

  • Practicing efficient teamwork and communication skills needed to provide patient-centered care

  • Understanding how and when to consult with other healthcare professionals based upon roles and responsibilities

  • Understanding how to include the patient and patient’s family in determining next steps and developing a care plan

  • Practicing how to implement a care plan as an inter-professional team
