Nineteen metro students attended the AHEC "Jumpstart Your Health Career" workshop on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at UMKC School of Nursing. The six-hour workshop introduced students to various careers in the health field, provided HIPAA and confidentiality training, and offered students an interactive learning session on vital signs. UMKC School of nursing faculty members Ronda Manney, RN, MSN, and Teresa Croweder, RN, BSN, along with nursing student and former ACES participant Markie Greenway, led the activities. Students learned about blood pressures, temperatures, sterilization, respiration and pain levels. Following the activities, students also had an opportunity to visit the UMKC nursing simulation lab. |
