Clinical Training

Clinical Training for health profession students exists to assist
in preparing medical and other health care profession students to
practice in underserved communities. Clinical Training programs include:
- Identification of Preceptor Sites
- Orientation to Community Resources
- Arrangement of Low-Cost Housing During Training Experience
- Access to online resources
WCMO AHEC assists can provide 3rd and 4th year medical students with rotations in family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics. Many of the preceptors practice in Federally Qualified Health Centers, community health centers, or free health clinics.
AHEC also assists 1st and 2nd year medical students with summer rotations lasting two - eight weeks.
PRIMO Loan Recipients should contact WCMO AHEC to learn more about the FQHC-based Family Medicine rotation, which was a colaborative effort between MAHEC, the Dept of Health and Human Services, and the five Missouri Medical Schools to allow PRIMO scholars the opportunity to complete their required four-week family medicine rotation in a Federally Qualified Health Center.
3rd and 4th year Dental Students are also completing one-week rotations through Federally Qualified Health Centers and dental hygiene students complete a two-week summer rotation through an FQHC as well. All MAHEC regional offices assist with these opportunities.
